Bengal Eagle owl or Indian Eagle owl (Bubo Bengalensis)

Parsley was hatched on 2nd May 2013 at a breeders in Oxford. I picked him up at three weeks old and I have to say, he looked like a plucked chicken LOL but now he’s a very handsome boy weighing in at 2lb 7oz.

3-4 eggs are laid a year from this breed in a hollow made in the earth and hatch after 33 days, the chicks then depend on their parents for the next six months.

In captivity these owls can live up to 30 years.

Parsley is a very curious boy, watching everything going on in the garden but doesn’t like change, If something is added or moved he won’t take his eyes off it.

He is a very vocal bird with a typical owl sound, a deep mellow sounding two toned hoot.

His diet consists of: day old chicks, mice, weaner rats, and quails.

He also has a selection of rope dog toys in his aviary which he loves to play with and he loves to have a good splash around in is bath.
